October Book Reports

Happy September!

School is in full swing! Last week students were given Reading Counts goals and book report due dates. You can find that information here in my blog via the book report link and the upcoming events calendar.

We are moving away from the 6th grade reading text book this week to the novel "Tuck Everlasting".

I'm looking forward to seeing each of you at parent orientation on Thursday, September 5th. I have much more to share then.

2013 KSTL Competition

I am proud to announce that we had 7 sixth graders compete in the 2013 Kansas Student Technology Leaders Competition today. All 7 placed.

Congratulations to Suman, Seth, and Rishi for 2nd place in the Social Media Category
Congratulations to Reshon for 5th place in the Web Design Category
Congratulations to Kristine, Kiersten, and Camille for 5th place in the Video Public Service Announcement Category

Two students at Anthony Middle School (former Pandas) competed today and would like to share their video. Douglas Kim & Alex Lu created this video and took 1st place in their category - Video Production

The Little Prince

All 6th graders are getting ready to read The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry . This is a book written for children, but with many deeper meanings. We will explore many themes throughout this novel study. For more information about this novella, you can visit any of the following websites:

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are the 13th and 14th. I am looking forward to meeting with as many parents as possible during these two dates.

Conference times are:

Wednesday 4:15pm - 6:00pm and 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Thursday - 8:00an - 12:00pm, 1:00pm - 6:00pm
 and 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Thursday is Valentine's Day! I hope this won't keep you from making it in to visit with us.... I'll have chocolate :)
